It’s officially fall, y’all! 🍂 The weather is cooling off and winter is coming. ❄️ No matter where you live (in the Northern hemisphere anyway), you will be feeling a drop in temperature and the daylight hours decrease.
That colder weather and less sunlight unfortunately causes an estimated 10-20 percent of people to have mild seasonal affective disorder (SAD). And SAD is four times more common in women than in men, and gets worse the farther north you live. 😞 It’s not just the winter blues, it’s a real thing, often called winter or seasonal depression. And it can cause weight gain, low energy, fatigue, irritability, decreased focus and difficulty concentrating, increased sensitivity to social rejection and even avoiding social situations all together. (from the journal of American Family Physician)
So if you’re starting to feel tired, low energy, lack of motivation, irritable, apathetic or just generally feeling ‘down’ as the season changes, then it’s time to change your mindset and mood! Instead of dreading the colder, darker days, let’s embrace the fall season in all its beauty! 🍁🥰
